Dr Julie Morrison

Medicine that sees the whole child.

My Philosophy

As a Cape Town paediatric pulmonologist with additional training in integrative medicine, I believe the best outcomes happen when we look beyond the symptom. A chronic cough is not always just a cough. Poor sleep is not always just a sleep issue. In children, these things rarely sit apart from each other for long.

So my first question is rarely what is the symptom. It is why is this happening, and when you start there, the whole consultation changes.

Every time I treat a child,
I picture my own daughter in that bed. Every decision I make is one I would make for her too.

Four pillars. One foundation.

The BreatheThrive Framework™

I'm a paediatric pulmonologist and integrative medicine specialist, trained across three continents and grounded in Cape Town. I treat the lungs, and everything connected to them.

A complement to every pillar

Targeted supplements, working alongside medicine.

Probiotics  >  Omega 3  >  Vitamin D  >  Targeted support

01 · Emotional

Emotional wellbeing

The nervous system first. A calm parent often creates a calm child: reassurance, clarity and a plan settle the whole home around the child.

02 · movement

Movement

Airway conditioning, immune resilience, and the rhythm of daily physical activity, especially during recovery.

03 · nutrition

Nutrition

The gut-immune axis and food-first interventions for chronic respiratory disease.

04 · The foundation

Sleep

When a child sleeps well, healing starts to happen. Immune function improves. Inflammation settles.

Parents sleep too, and the emotional temperature of the home comes down. Everything else rests on this.

what i treat

Every child deserves the same standard of care.

From the everyday (asthma, recurrent wheeze, chronic cough) to the most complex combined airway cases in the country. Families travel from Namibia, Angola and across South Africa for the combined airway list.
